Orissa Govt. Launches e-Registration of Land Records

The Orissa Government on Monday has launched e-Registration of land records. The era of e-governance entered into the state, the state government introduced the online registration of land records, it is in the interest of the people. Now the hassle-free sale and purchase of land through e-governance in the state is possible.

The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated the e-Registration project in the capital on Monday. e-Registration activities will be carried by the E-Governance Services Ltd, which is jointly formed by Orissa Computer Application Centre and Industrial Development Corporation. The e-registration of lands records will help the people to adopt easy way of registering their land records through online and e-governance. However, the stamp vendors of the state are reportedly opposing the project.

Common Admissions Test (CAT) re-test on Jan 30 & 31

The Common Admissions Test (CAT) re-test is to be held on January 30 & 31, 2010. Due to the software glitches in the exam system around 2000 students could not appear the CAT exam. Now they can appear the CAT re-test. The results of the CAT re-test may be declared in the month of February 2010.

The exam conductor of the phase 11 CAT re-exam is likely to intimate the selected students to appear the re-examination. It is expected that the selected students may get the details about the exam by January 10, 2010. From November 28 to December 8, 2009, the first phase of the CAT exam was conducted across India. CAT scoring the essential for the management aspirants, good score in the CAT exam will decide their admission into various reputed management institutes.

Central Empowered Committee asks Orissa Govt details on 602 Mines

The Central Empowered Committee (CEC), appointed by Supreme Court of India, has asked the state government the details about all the 602 mines. The Orissa government is to submit the details about all the mines to CEC by February 15, 2010. PV Jayakrishnan is heading the CEC.

According to media reports, the state government said that out of the total 602 mines in the state, 274 are in operation and closed mines number are 139. And 189 have applied for renewal of the mining leases in the state. Mining laws violations were reported in the state, which could the major reason for the directive from the CEC.

Govt of India asks POSCO India to file fresh proposal for its Orissa SEZ

The Government of India has asked Posco India Pvt Ltd, the arm of South Korean Steel maker to apply fresh application for setting up SEZ in Orissa. The Posco project has been held up since 2005, the year it signed MoU with the Orissa State government.

Due to protest by local people, Posco India has been problem in acquiring around 4,000 acres of land. Posco is scheduled to set up 12 million-tonnes project with Special Economic Zone status in Orissa. On Wednesday, Posco India Pvt Ltd is asked to file Form A - afresh application for setting up the 12 mtpa plant in Orissa.

5,567 Lecturers, Readers, and Professors to get Revised Pay

The Orissa Government has decided to implement UGC pay-scale for university and government college faculties. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday evening.

The cabinet has also approved to set up 2,631 new schools and upgrade 5,616 others schools. The state government plans to recruit 17,820 teachers (sikhya sahayakas) for the schools. The Chief Secretary T N Mishra briefed media about decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting.

After the cabinet’s approval, the 5,567 lecturers, readers and profession working in the government universities and colleges will get their revised pay as per the Sixth Pay Commission. The cabinet has also decided to regularize the services of 326 nurses, those were appointed on Ad hoc basis. Besides, the cabinet has also approved to give government assistance to 167 madrasas.

Gujarat State Petronet Ltd to Lay Gas Pipeline to Orissa from Gujarat

Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) the gas distribution subsidiary of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) is planning to lay gas planning to expand its business in eastern India. In order to make the plan successful its business in Orissa, the GSPL will lay a gas pipeline from Gujarat to Orissa.

According to company sources, the project of gas pipeline to Orissa from Gujarat, is expected to complete in three years and cost around Rs 6,000 crore. The work will be started after getting approval from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

Seeking the approval, The GSPL has already submitted an ‘expression of interest’ in this regard to the PNGRB. The pipe line will start from Surat, Gujarat to Indian Oil Corporation refinery at Paradip in Orissa. The pipeline will be laid along 124 kilometers in length from Surat to Paradip.

Orissa Govt Announce Financial Assistance to Drought-Hit Farmers

The state government on Thursday has announced financial assistance to the drought-hit farmers. In the state farmers are affected badly due to the crop damage. Even in some parts crops damaged due to less rainfall and pest attack.

The state government will provide assistance of Rs 4000 to the farmers per hectare for irrigated land and Rs 2,000 for non-irrigated land. The financial assistance by the state government would give relief to the drought-hit farmers in the state.

Orissa Govt. Constitutes 17 Member Task Force for Higher Education Policy

The Orissa state government has formed 17 member Task Force for Higher Education police. In order to have a good approach over the Vision 20-20, Orissa state government has set up a task force. The formation of task force on higher education policy was welcomed in the state.

The task force will submit its report on the higher education policy in three months. Many task forces on education were set up the state government. It is expected that the recommendations of the task force will be taken for practical implementation.

Bus Owners End Strike in Orissa

The on going strike by private bus owners was called off on Wednesday, according to media reports. Bus owners were on strike from October 4th and four-days long strike by the private bus operators affected the state most.

The state government had tried hard to control the strike, even some bus owners were reportedly arrested following the strike. The spokesman of All Orissa Bus Owners’ Association - Debasis Naya intimated the media reports in the capital that the association members had agreed to end the strike. The passengers were suffered a lot due to the strike in the state, however the operation of government vehicles and three-wheeler gave some respite.

Finally, the strike against hiked toll fees on national highways, by the bus owners ended in the Orissa. However, the private bus operations intimated to cut their operations over the NH 5 and NH 5A due to hike in the toll fees along those highways.

Orissa Govt. Clears Five Industrial Projects worth Rs 2037 cr

The state government has cleared five mega industrial investment projects worth Rs Rs 2037 crore. The Chief Secretary, Ajit Tripathy chaired a meeting of single window committee in the capital on Thursday. The committee has cleared the five investment proposals - Bhubaneswar Power Ltd, Dhananjay Industries, Hindalco’s Aluminium Rolling Plant, Rashmi Cement Ltd and Kaushal Ferro Manganese.

Accoriding to media reports, Hindalco’s industries to invest around Rs 850 crores to set up Aluminium Rolling plant in Hirakud. The proposed plan would generate employment opportunities to around 250 people and will have production capacity of 2.85 lakh metric tonnes.

Rashmi Cement to invest Rs 300 crore to set up plant at Haridaspur and the jobs can be provided to around 240 people. Dhananjay industries and Kaushal industries will invest around Rs.180 crores and Rs.82 crore, respectively. The industrial investments and projects in the state would generate the employment opportunities in the state.

Orissa Matric Examination results declared

The High School Certificate Examination (HSC) or matric examination results were declared on Tuesday morning in Orissa. The matric examination results are also available the websits - http://www.bseorissa.in/ and http://orissaresults.nic.in/.

In the state around three lakh students had appeared the matric examination and 2,11, 846 students have passed the matric examination. The pass percentage in the state is 63.41 per cent.

As per the result declared by the BSE, 43,399 students have secured first division, 71,942 secured second division and 96,376 students passed in third division. In the state, Dhenkanal - has the highest pass percentage of 80.12 per cent, while the Kandhamal has recorded the lowest pass percentage of 43.51 per cent.

This time the BSE has published a list top 100 students of matric examination. As per the list, Bibek Bishal Mehena (574) of Saraswati Vidyamandir (Rourkela) and Sanket Dash (574) of Saraswati Shishu Bidya Mandir, Ramaharinagar have topped in the matric examination.

State Govt Approves Eight Bio Mass Power Projects

The state government has approved to set up eight bio mass power projects, in eight districts, according to media reports. The eight bio mass power projects would be set up in Dhenkanal, Puri, Ganjam, Khurda, Raygada and Nawarangpur districts.

CM directs secretaries to prepare five-year perspective plan

The Cheif Minister Naveen Patnaik asked the secretaries of all the departments to prepare five-year perspective plan within 15 days in consultation with the Concerned department Minister. The state may see the five year plan model for the implementation of the government policies.

The finance minister of the state has presented the budget on Thursday and the government will give priority to the schemes like Rs 2 a kg rice scheme, Madhubabu Pension Yojana and Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana.

10,035 students qualified in IIT-JEE for 2009

IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) results were announced on Monday, over ten thousand students have qualified for the year 2009. Nitin Jain of Delhi is the topper for 2009.

HC directs OPSC for fresh common OAS main examination

The High Court directed the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC) to conduct the common main examination of Orissa Administrative Services (OAS) for all the qualifying candidates again on Thursday. The Bench comprising Justices BP Ray and BP Das asked the commission to completed entire process of with in three months.

OPSC will have to conduct re-examination of all 4,560 students as per the court directive. The OAS (Main) examination held in 2008 and around 3,730 students had appeared. There was controversy over the number of qualifiers of preliminary examination. The preliminary list was published once again with the names of 830 students added to it.

ICSE and ISC exam results will out today

Orissa DHE to introduce e-admission in 60 junior colleges

The Department of Higher Education will implement a pilot project for e-admission in 60 junior colleges in Orissa under Student Academic Management System (SAMS). Under the project, students can file their application for admission through online.

The Higher Education Secretary, Madhusudhan Padhi told media that under SAMS - 51 government colleges and nine aided colleges made online for the admission for 30,644 seats. This is a pilot project and would be implemented in the other colleges in phases.

In order to apply online for the admission students can get the Common Application Form (CAF) and Common Prospectus (CS) from the website 'www.dheorissa.in''. The CAF and CF will be available at college counters from June 16, students can get those by paying Rs 20 and Rs 10. Students can file their application from June 16 to June 30.

Using the CAF students can opt several streams and colleges with a cost. They need to pay Rs 50 each for first five options, Rs 75 each for next four options, Rs 100 for each four options and Rs 200 each for beyond 14 colleges and streams.

The online admission or e-admission would be easier for students to apply in various colleges and streams through only one CAF. They can track their status of their application through a token number that is provided at the time of submission.

Loop Telecom launches of operations in Orissa and TN

Orissa to get Rs 140 crore under Integrated Coastal Zone Management project

The Orissa will get a fund of Rs 140 crore from the World Bank under the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) project. The fund would be utilized to monitor and check any terrorists infiltrations thought coastal belt.

The World Bank has planned to fund Rs 140 crore for the implementation of ICZM project across 482 km of coastal area. Alongwith Orissa the other states - West Bengal and Gujarat are also the beneficiaries under this project. The Chilika Development Authority has been the nodal agency for preparing ICZM and the work will begin after getting complete approval from the World Bank.

The project will help the state to strengthen its security and can also monitor the climate change in the state. The people of the coastal areas of these state would be more relax to have this project. The climate change can also be monitored so that the damage would be less in future.
