Bus Owners End Strike in Orissa

The on going strike by private bus owners was called off on Wednesday, according to media reports. Bus owners were on strike from October 4th and four-days long strike by the private bus operators affected the state most.

The state government had tried hard to control the strike, even some bus owners were reportedly arrested following the strike. The spokesman of All Orissa Bus Owners’ Association - Debasis Naya intimated the media reports in the capital that the association members had agreed to end the strike. The passengers were suffered a lot due to the strike in the state, however the operation of government vehicles and three-wheeler gave some respite.

Finally, the strike against hiked toll fees on national highways, by the bus owners ended in the Orissa. However, the private bus operations intimated to cut their operations over the NH 5 and NH 5A due to hike in the toll fees along those highways.
