Orissa HC serves notice to DAV School Regional Director

Orissa High Court on Wednesday issued notice to Himanshu Mohanty, the Regional Director of DAV Public Schools over the fees hike. The single judge bench of Justice MM Das has directed Mohanty to appear in person on May 13, according to media reports.

Mohanty has reportedly issue a noticed to parents over fees payment. It is noteworthy that the schools authorities have issued notice over the fees hike despite the matter is sub judice. Considering this act as contempt, the High Court issued contempt notice to Mohanty for issuing notice over the fees hike. In the state, parents have express their resentment over the fees hike by school authorities. The hike in the fees by the DAV School was challenged by parents at High Court.

On March 27, the state government has allowed the private schools to increase the fee structure provisionally up by 25 per. But would be applicable to the private schools are paying 5th Pay Commission scales and were to implement the 6th Pay Commission award to their staff. Later, the Orissa High Court issued a stay on the Government notification allowing private English medium institutions to hike their tuition and development fees from the 2009-10 academic session.
