10,035 students qualified in IIT-JEE for 2009

IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) results were announced on Monday, over ten thousand students have qualified for the year 2009. Nitin Jain of Delhi is the topper for 2009.

Many aspirants aim to crack the IIT-JEE top score in order get admission into 15 IITs, IT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad. In the IIT-JEE 2009, 1,048 girls have also qualified out of total 10,035 qualified students.

This year the total seats in the IITs are 8,295 and the number of last year was 6332. Two new IIT s - Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Indore in Madhya Pradesh will start functioning this year. The counselling for admission will start from 9 June 2009. 2,831 students have qualified from alone Mumbai Zone, which is the highest result achieved by a single zone.
