Centre plans to set up two Ultra Mega Power Plants in Orissa
The Centre is planning to set up two new Ultra Mega Power Plants (UMPPs) in Orissa, according to media reports.
These proposed UMPPs would be set up in the coastal belt of the state. Each plant will have generating capacity of 4,000 MW. The water from the sea will be used to generate power from these units.
Though the locations have not been finalised, while five possible locations have been short listed for the purpose by the government. The sort listed places are Kirtania in Balasore district, Dhamara in Bhadrakh district, Paradeep in Jagatsinghpur district, Astharanga in Puri district and Ganja in Ganjam district.These proposed UMPPs would be set up in the coastal belt of the state.
