Vedanta to spend Rs 125 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility
Despite the global economic slowdown, the Vedanta Resources would invest Rs125 crore for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in India next fiscal, according to media reports.Anil Agarwal, the chairman of Vedanta Resources Group said that “We think most of our wealth should go back to the society.” He says that capital expenditure in CSR is a part of company's business plan to give back to the society.
Under its CSR the company would invest over the education, health, women empowerment and nutrition in the states - Orissa, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Goa. The company has already spend Rs 186.5 crore on various CSR activities in these states over last four years.
