State Govt needs to boost tourism: HRAO

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Orissa (HRAO) urged the state government to boost the tourism sector. The HRAO seeks Rs 2,000 crore package for the promoting of tourism in the state, which generates employment and revenue.

The inflow of the tourists has been decreasing due the global slowdown and the terrorism. Which affects the revenue of tourism related industries. The president of HRAO, JK Mohanty said that there is need for addition of new 2,500 hotels in the state. Mohanty asserted that the addition will generate employment opportunities in the state.

With the expansion of hotels in the state, there would be scope for direct and indirect employment for 25,000 people and generation of an income of Rs 2,500 crore. The state government needs chalk out strategies to boost the tourism sector.
