Orissa gets US $ 444 million World Bank assistance

A package of US $ 444 million is approved to Orissa by the World Bank for the improvement of road network, agriculture tank systems and increase livelihood opportunities for rural poor.

Dr Alok Sheel, joint secretary, department of economic affairs, ministry of finance and Mr Roberto Zagha, country director, India signed for the World Bank have signed an agreement on Tuesday in Delhi.

Under the package the World Bank has allotted US $ 250 million, US $ 112 million and US $ 82.4 million for the improvement of state's road network, agriculture tank system and to create livelihood opportunities for the rural poor people in the state. The state government may carry out may development project using the package availed by the world bank.
