Government to hike state annual plan expenditure by 20%

The state government exercising on the annual plan for the next fiscal urges the secretaries of all departments not to worry about the global financial crisis.

Considering the minimal impact of the global financial crisis on the state economy, the government is likely to increase the state's annual plan for 2009-10 to the tune of Rs 8,100 crore.
For last three years the outlay for the annual plans has been increasing. The government may increase outlay for annual plan 2009-10 by 20 per cent.

The possible proposed amount of Rs. 81,000 crore is 20 per higher than the allocation for 2008-9. The Planning and Coordination special secretary Ramvir Singh said that the Orissa's economy was basically agrarian in nature and the would be marginal impact of the global meltdown.

Till 2000 there was a limit for the allocation to the annual plans in the state. While Rs 3,600 crore and Rs 7,500 crore have been allocated for the annual plans of 2006-07 and 2008-09 respectively.
