Centre stops funding to 8 districts under NREG:Orissa Panchayati Raj Minister
The Orissa Panchayati Raj Minister Raghunath Mohanty said that the central government has stopped funding to eight districts under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
Mohanty expressed his concern over rejection of state's proposal by the Ministry of Rural Development. He added districts where NREGS had come to a standstill are Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Baragarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, Sundargarh and Nabangpur.
The minister said that due to lack of funds the scheme had been affected in eight districts of the state, while the scheme was being running smoothly in other 22 districts. Under NREGS, state government has received Rs 380 crore in 2008-09.
