Orissa suffers humiliating loss to Gujarat in Ranji Trophy
Breaking News! Orissa suffered its third straight loss, this time to Gujarat. Gujarat beat Orissa by an innings an 83 runs. Orissa suffered three successive defeats in Ranji Trophy after 38 years. The Orissa batsmen failed to live up to the expectations and fell like a pack of cards. Orissa selectors tried both seniors and juniors, but nobody clicked.
After the humiliating loss to Gujarat, Orissa finished 7th our of 8 teams in the point table, and qualified to play in next year's elite group. Earlier, Orissa had lost to Saurashtra, Delhi and Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group match. While the Orissa team had conceded 3 points to Hyderabad, it won the match against Punjab and gained 3 points against Rajasthan.
Orissa made 162 and 149 in both innings, while Gujarat made 394 runs in the first innings with the help of 206 from skipper Parthiv Patel.
