Orissa Cabinet approves Supplementary Budget

The Orissa state cabinet approved the additional budget to be placed on the first day of the winter session of the Orissa assembly on November 26. The additional budget will have a provision of Rs. 7,250 crore. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has stressed on tthe need for proper utilization of the funds.

As per the provisions, the MLA LAD fund will be raised from Rs. 75 lakh to Rs. 1 crore. In addition, the roads which are not part of Biju KBK and KBK schemes, will be concrete roads. the cabinet has allocated separate funds for this. As a result, Ganjam district will be mostly benefited.

The budget has made an allocation for the recommendations of sixth pay commission. Earlier, the Fitment Committee has recommended a pay hike for all state government employees as per the recommendations of sixth pay commission. The supplementary budget also has a provision for 20 per cent block grant to the teachers. In addition, budgetary provisions have been made to provide funds to implement the Rs. 2 per kg rice scheme.
