An indebted Odisha recalls its past glory and ancestors by observing 'Kartik Purnima' or 'Boita Bandana Utsav' today. People of Odisha (Orissa) celebrate 'Boita Bandana Utsav' to recall the maritime past of the state. People in large numbers flocked the rivers, ponds and seas to float the 'boitas' in the wee hours of Kartik Purnima today. The 'Bali Yatra' or 'Bali Jatra' will begin at Cuttack today, which will last for a period of three to four days.
