Orissa gets new Police DG, Manmohan Praharaj takes over

Manmohan Praharaj has taken over as the 36th Director General of Police, Orissa. Mr. Praharaj replaced outgoing DG Gopal Chandra Nanda. After taking charge, Mr. Manmohan Praharaj announced that restoring law and order in Kandhamal, will be his top priority. In addition, he vowed to tackled the naxal menace with an iron hand. The new DG also stressed on the need to boost the morale of police force.

DG Manmohan Praharaj was a 1976 batch IPS officer. He is basically from Cuttack. He had started his career as the SDPO, Khurda. Later, he worked as SP, Bolangir. Mr. Mishra joined the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in 1982. During his nine year association with RAW, he worked in Delhi, Bangkok and Colombo. He returned to Orissa in 1991. He later worked as a DIG in Rourkela and Bhubaneswar and then with Vigilance department. From 2003 to 2008, Manmohan Praharaj worked as the Director General of State Intelligence.
