Naveen Patnaik invites Tatas to set up Nano Project in the State

While states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh are wooing the Tata's Nano project after their pullout from Singur, Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik invited the company to set up the project near Gopalpur in the state. The Chief Minister sent an official letter to Ratan Tata, requesting him to consider moving the Nano project to Orissa.

Tatas already have 3,700 acres of unused land in Gopalpur, Orissa. The CM urged the Tatas to use that land to set up the Nano project there. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress, CPM and CPI supported the Chief Minister and said they would welcome the Tatas if they decide to set up Nano car project in the state.

Orissa does not seem to be a safe place for Christians or for the Tata's Nano project. Look at the report of this on-line news from December 2007:

"People, opposing the Tata Steel Project in Kalinga Nagar, demolished the company's proposed hospital wall. According to sources, it was the handiwork of protesters belonging to Bisthapan Birodhi Janamanch (BBJ). The hospital was being built at Maniapatana village."

"The latest development escalated tension in the area with a possibility of the clashes between the pro and anti- Tata groups. Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and eight platoons of police forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident."

If the steel project has been opposed, why would not the car project suffer the same fate?
