Maoist Leader: We killed Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Kandhamal

Breaking News! In a sensational development, Orissa's top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda told correspondents from NDTV and local television channel OTV that his Maoist cadres killed veteran VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Kandhamal on August 23.

Sabyasachi Panda claimed that they killed Laxamanananda Saraswati for allegedly spreading communal hatred between local tribals and Christians. He also took a swipe on the state government for hiding the facts and allowing the "communal" Sangh Parivar forces to inflict atrocities on "innocent" Christians.

Mr. Sabyasachi Panda is wanted in several murder and extortion cases including the naxal attack in Nayagarh. He is the topmost Maoist leader in Orissa. He met the journalists inside the deep forest under heavy security arrangements. His interview was broadcasted on NDTV and OTV on Sunday. To the surprise of many, he kept slamming the VHP, Bajrang Dal and RSS. At the same time, he kept defending the Christians and their ideologies.

His strong defence of Christian community has raised many eyebrows. Local VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders hinted at a possible collusion between the Maoists and Christian missionaries and even alleged that foreign funds are playing an important role in turning the Maoists against VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders and activists.

Why should Sabyasachi Panda's defense of innocent Christians raise an eyebrows except those of the government leaders who have been responsible for encouraging continued violence by their silence on this matter. Are their risen eyebrows an act to tell all that the innocent vitims of beatings, killings, rape and burning were deserving of these cruelties. It seems that the the action of raising the eyebrows in this case only serves to cover their own evil eyes, hide their poisoned hearts and cover their wretched unspeakable thoughts. They are only looking to excuse their own culpability in running the government of Orissa in such an extrodinarily bad way as to promote more harm.

Sabyasachi Panda sees much more clearly than these horrible officials and he does so without any accented eyebrow movement.

The Orissa top brasses and law enforcing authorities, including the Chief Minister were well aware of the fact that the Swamiji was killed by Maoists. But they suppressed the news, giving a free hand to Sangh parivar to do the ethnic cleansing. The target is achieved and the so called 'ritualistic and routinised arrest mela' has started. It is much more than religious killing. In the recent past, the tribals and dalits who are empowered through education and various government provisions such as Panchayati Raj etc. have become a threat to the high caste Hindus who were dominating and exploiting them for centuries. Can they get any other better chance than this to obliterate the tribals and dalits? Many of the Hindu fundamentalists and fanatics could become rich overnite by the plundering and looting of the properties established by the hard work of many nuns and priests. Indeed a quick money to survive till the next attack. What more evidence is required to ban and declare VHP, Bajrang Dal etc. as terrorist groups and book under POTA. But it will never happen. Even PM is sleeping over his eye wash phrase 'national shame'. He needs the Hindu votes for his own survival.
