Centre to Orissa: "Stop Violence or Face Action"

Breaking News! Disturbed over the continued communal violence in Kandhamal, the Centre today warned the Orissa government to stop violence or face action. The strong statement came from Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil after the cabinet meeting. The Home Ministry said that state government is not doing enough to contain the violence and restore and law and order in the state.

PM Dr. Manmohan Singha and many UPA cabinet ministers have expressed anguish over the violence in Kandhamal. A number of ministers including PR Das Munsi, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Kapi Sibbal have advocated a ban or strong action against Bajrang Dal, which is allegedly spreading hatred and communal divide in Orissa and elsewhere in the country.
