Venkatapathy Raju to be Chief Coach of Orissa Ranji Team
The Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) has appointed Venkatapathy Raju as the Chief Coach of Orissa Ranji team. Raju's term as the national selector will expire at the end of this month. Raju has been roped in by Ranjib Biswal, who is also one of the national selectors. Raju played 28 tests and 53 ODIs for India. The left-arm spinner has 93 test wickets and 63 ODI wickets to his credit.Although Venkatapathy Raju will be the chief coach of Orissa Ranji team, Daniel Rout, Sourajit Mohapatra and Abkash Khatua will hold their job in batting, bowling and fielding respectively. Abkash Khatua was in charge of Chief Coach of Orissa Ranji team after the resignation of previous coach. Meanwhile, Vedanta Aluminium Limited has decided sponsor the Orissa cricket teams (men and women) at all age-group level.
