Orissa Government not to allow Praveen Togadia-led VHP Yatra

Under fire from the Supreme Court, Centre and several other organizations, the Orissa government has assured the Supreme Court that it would not allow VHP leader Praveen Togadia's proposed yatra carrying the ashes of late Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in the state.

The Supreme Court bench headed by CJI K G Balakrishnan expressed satisfaction over the state government's reply and directed them to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the riot-hit Kandhamal district. the state government filed another affidavit, giving details about the deployment of paramilitary forces and state police to protect the lives and properties in the riot-hit areas.
