Kandhamal Violence: Two killed in Police Firing, 1 CRPF Jawan injured

Breaking News! After a lull of two days, more violent clashes reported from Kandhamal on Saturday. Two persons were killed in police firing at Kurtamgarh near Tumudibandh. The police retaliated when rioters opened fire at the CRPF, injuring one jawan. More than 15 people were injured when the police resorted to baton charge.

According to sources, a mob of 500 people attacked the houses of minorities in Kurtamgarh area. When CRPF personnel tried to prevent them, they opened the fire, forcing the security personnel to retaliate. The CRPF jawan Seetam Kumar, who was injured in rioters' firing, was admitted to Berhampur Medical College Hospital. More violence and atrocities on minorities have been reported from various parts of Kandhamal.
