Orissa.IT@2008: MindTree, Genpact to open branches in Orissa

IT giants MindTree and Genpact are all set to open their branches in Bhubaneswar. It was announced at the Orissa.IT@2008 held at Swosti Plaza, Bhubaneswar. Infosys Technologies will also open another branch in the proposed second Infocity in Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who presided over the function, conferred IT awards on eminent persons who have achieved laurels in that field.

Subrato Bagchi, the co-founder of MindTree received the first Kalinga IT Ratna award. Incidentally, he originally belongs to Rayagada district in Orissa. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled Bagchi's book, "Go, Kiss the World". The Chief Minister and the representatives from other IT companies have stressed the need for IT development in Orissa and expressed confidence that the state would soon become a major IT hub of the country.

According to the Chief Minister, the second Infocity will be set up soon and it will generate 20,000 IT ad ITES jobs in the next two years. The state government will invest Rs. 2,000 crore to set up the second Infocity. Besides Subrato Bagchi, Infosys CEO K Gopalakrishnan, Genpact President Pramod Bhasin and many other top officials from leading IT companies in the country attended the Orissa.IT@2008. The mega event will last for two days.
