Missing Boat in Chitrakonda found, 35 Missing Jawans feared dead

As the rescue and combing operations continued for the fourth consecutive day, the missing boat that sank in Chitrakonda Reservoir after Sunday's Maoist attack, was found deep inside the water. It is reported that several dead bodies are trapped inside the boat. The authorities have given up hope of finding any jawan alive and tacitly admitted that all 35 missing jawans could be feared dead.

Two dead bodies were recovered yesterday. Surprisingly, one of the jawans was found dead with his hands and legs tied. That indicated that Maoists could have killed him and dumped in the water. Ironically, while there are grief and panic all over, Orissa and Andhra government officials resorted to blame game over the Maoist attack. Orissa state home secretary T K Mishra's statement, which attributed the Maoist attack in Chitrakonda to a tactical "error" by the Greyhound unit from Andhra Pradesh, has angered the Andhra Pradesh government and other officials.
