Senior Lecturer suspended for terming Saffron parties as terror organizations in Book

A senior lecturer with Sailabala Women's College, Cuttack has been suspended for terming the saffron parties BJP, Shiv Sena, RSS and Bajarang Dal as terrorist organizations. The lecturer in question is Shyama Charan Mohanty. He and Amarendra Mohanty, Retd. Reader of Ravenshaw College, Cuttack had written the controversial book, "Indian Polity Process" in which BJP, Shiv Sena and other Sangh Parivar organizations were compared to Pakistan's dreaded terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Toiba. The book was being taught in the +3 Final Year Arts stream.

Although Shyama Charan Mohanty had issued a written afidavit with an apology, the government is in no mood for spreading the venom. He and the other Reader would be prosecuted under Rule 15 OCS Act. Action is expected to be taken against Kitab Mahal, which published the book.
