Orissa govt delays Culling Operation

The strong resistance from poultry farmers across the Orissa-West Bengal border, forced the Orissa government to delay the culling operations. The culling operation was supposed to begin on Wednesday.

The poultry farmers have filed a writ petition in the High Court challenging the Orissa government decision to cull "healthy birds" in 737 villages within the 5 km radius of Bird Flu-hit West Bengal. The directive was issued by the Centre. According to sources, the government is waiting for HC's order before taking any further action.
