Battlefield Gasma Forest: 20 Maoists and 3 Policemen killed

Breaking News! Heavy exchange of fire continues in Gasma forest in Ganjam district, which falls between Nayagarh and Bhanjangar. Gasma forest is located at a distance of 40 km from Bhanjanagar. According to sources, at least 20 Maoists and three SOG (Special Operation Group) were killed in the gunbattle. The Orissa Home Secretary has confirmed the reports.

Massive combing operation was launched on Saturday by CRPF, Special cell of Orissa Police and IAF. Special Greyhound Force from Andhra Pradesh also joined the operation, giving it a further boost. More Greyhound Forces are expected to join the special operation tomorrow. Radar helicopters from IAF are being used to hund down the Maoists who fled to Gasma forest after killing police personnel and looting arms in Nayagarh and Daspalla.

Mahendra Kumawat, the special secretary of Central Home Department has arrived in Orissa to monitor the situation. The operation launched by CRPF, SOG, IAF, OSAP and Greyhound Force is said to be the biggest ever anti-Maoist operation in the country.
