14 people including 13 Policemen confirmed dead in Naxal Attack
Yesterday night's daring naxal attack had claimed 14 lives including those of 13 policemen. Over 200 maoists including women attacked the police stations in Nayagarh, Dashpalla and Nuagaon. They also took possession of a police outpost in Galeri on the Bhanjanagar - Chakapad road. The naxals killed ASI Dandapani Mishra and other police personnel in Nayagah police station before setting the building on fire. They also torched the Police Training School.Another group of Naxals bombed the Dashpalla police station. They also hijacked a passenger bus. One civilian was killed in crossfire. The Maoists looted a huge number of arms and ammunition from the armoury.
Orissa News Online was the first to report the news on Internet. We had published the breaking news at 11.45 PM yesterday. The fate of the hijacked bus is not immediately known. High alert has been issued in entire Nayagarh district, Khurda, Phulbani and Bhubaneswar. Other parts of the state have also been put on alert. Senior police officials including the Police DG have rushed to Naygarh to assess the situation. The police have intensified the combing operations. All routes passing through Nayagarh, have been sealed.
