Yechury lambasts "communal forces" in Orissa

The CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury came down heavily on BJP and other Hindu organizations in Orissa and accused them of trying to make Orissa another Gujarat. He expressed fear that Orissa would soon become the next laboratory of the hindutva brigade. He compared the Kandhamal violence to a similar incident in the Dang district in Gujarat that happened a decade ago.

He also said CM Naveen Patnaik is either unwilling or unable to act tough due to political compulsions. Yechury and other members of the delegations were requested by the CM not to visit Kandhamal for the fear of fresh trouble. Yechury promised to raise the issue in Parliament.
