Republic Day celebrated in Orissa

Despite rain and bad weather, a large number of people gathered across the state to celebrate the 59th Republic Day. In Bhubaneswar, governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare unfurled the national tri-colour and took salute from the marching contingents. A good number of people lined up on both sides of the road to watch the march past.

Personnel from 7th Batallion, CRPF, CISF, RPF, NCC, Territorial Army and women recruit constables took part in the parade. Schoolchildren from various schools too took part in the parade. Despite the Maoists' call to observe 'Black Day' in Malkangiri and Koraput, people were seen celebrating the Republic Day amid tight security arrangements.
