Panic in Orissa over Bird Flu

People in Orissa are in a state of panic over the Bird Flu West Bengal. All borders with the neighbour West Bengal have been sealed and prohibitory orders (under Section 144) have been clamped in 110 villages that are located on West Bengal border. The border has been sealed across Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Sundargarh.

According to government sources, the goverment has immunized 50,000 chickens as a preventive measure and is planning to immunize 2 lakh more chickens in the border areas. In Balasore and Mayurbhanj, the price of chicken has come down to Rs 20 - 25 per kg. At least 13 districts in West Bengal are affected by the outbreak of Bird Flu.
