Bird Flu scare: Warning notice issued in Orissa

After Bird Flu cases were confirmed in West Bengal, the Orissa government has issued a warning note to veterinary officials in all 30 districts to take necessary precautions against a possible outbreak of the disease.

More than 18,000 poultry died in South Dinajpur and Birbhum districts of West Bengal over the past few days. The Union Health Ministry yesterday confirmed the detection H5N1 virus on the dead birds. The West Bengal government has ordered culling operations from today.
