Bhubaneswar 'rape' accused arrested

The Bhubaneswar police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting the accused in connection with the attempted rape on a female lawyer in Balipatna. The accused Laxmidhar Swain (35) is an illegal liquor vendor. He was later identified by the victim. According to police sources, Laxmidhar was the lone accused in this case. He belongs to nearby Khamang village.

The lawyers, who went on a rampage on Tuesday and boycotted court on Wednesday, called off their agitation and returned to work, when they were informed of the arrest of the accused. The accused would be produced in court today.
