Police Firing kills 4 People in Kandhamal

Even as the State Government has ordered a judicial probe into the Kandhamal violence, situation deterioated further in the riot-torn area. At least 4 people have been killed when police opened fire to disperse the angry mob in Brahmanigaon.

According to police sources, a mob of 500 people opened fire at the police station. The gun fight continued for more than hour. At least four people were killed and three police officials injured. Media sources have put the death toll at 9.
