Orissa Assembly adjourned sine die
The winter session of the Orissa Assembly came to an abrupt end with the Speaker Maheshwar Mohanty adjourned the house sine die. The decission came in the wake of the vociferous protest from the opposition parties that continued to stall the proceeding for more than a week. Government Chief Whip Kishore Mohanty moved the motion seeking adjournment of the proceedings sine die, which was approved by a voice vote. The opposition parties staged a walk out.Although the opposition parties led by former CM J B Patnaik termed the sine die adjournment of the house as 'undemocratic and unconstitutional', it is well known that Union Minister Ajay Maken persuaded them to stall the proceeding of the house, which cost the government and public crores of rupees.
