Konark Rape Case: Four accused produced in Court

Four people involved in a gang rape at the Marine Drive road in Konark, have been produced in the court. The fifth accused is still absconding. They raped a married woman from a village near Sakhigopal in Puri district. According to police sources, the accused chased the woman right from the moment she boarded the bus at Konark bus stand for Puri. Two of them boarded the bus, while others followed the bus in motor bike.

When the bus was passing along the lonely Marine Drive road, the two accused in the bus pounced upon her and dragged her out. The other accused also joined and then the woman was taken to nearby forest. She was raped at least six times. Ironically, nobody came to her rescue, even as her relative was screaming for help. Three of the accused hail from Puri, while the other two belong to Konark and Gop areas. The incident created panic among the visitors who throng in large numbers to the Sun Temple at Konark.
