Genpact performs 'Bhumi Pujan' in Bhubaneswar

BPO leader Genpact has performed a ground breaking (Bhumi Pujan) ceremony for a special economic zone in Bhubaneswar. It was attended by Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik and Genpact CEO Pramod Bhasin. The proposed Global Operations Centre at Bhubaneswar would come up over 12.14 acre at Infocity. The operations would begin in early 2009.

Genpacts aims to have 5000 employees in its Bhubaneswar centre, which means thousands of youth in the state would get employment and won't have to travel to big cities in search of jobs. Genpact is also planning to set up a second branch at Infocity if its first centre runs successfully. Mr. Bhasin rubbished talks about the 'stress life' in BPO and maintained that employee satisfaction level in the BPO sector was very high.
