Sukinda among 10 Worst Polluted areas in the World

Sukinda, the Mining city of Orissa and Gujarat's Vapi are among the top ten worst polluted areas in the world, says a survey conducted by an independent environment group. the pollution puts more than 2.5 million people at risk in Sukinda. In Vapi, 71,000 people are at risk because of pollution. Sukinda is famous for large chromite deposits.

The survey was conducted by the Blacksmith Institute, a prestigious US-based environment group. Other worst ten polluted areas are Sumgayit (Azerbaijan), Linfen and Tianjin in China , La Oroya (Peru), Dzerzhinsk and Norilsk (both in Russia ), Chernobyl (Ukraine ) and Kabwe (Zambia). Both Sukinda and Vapi are new entrants in the list.
