Ortel to switch off its Network for One Hour
To protest the recent cable disconnection incidents by some hooligans, the Ortel Communications have decided to switch off their network from 8 PM to 9 PM on Wednesday. According to Ortel sources, some vested interests of VEPL (Variety Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.), which promotes ETV Oriya in the state, has been cutting their cables, thus giving great deal of inconvenience to the customers.Even after repeated complaints, the police has not been able to stop such incidents. To mark their protest against police inaction and the government apathy, the Ortel Network has decided to take this drastic step. They asked all Ortel consumers to support the company in the protest.
Interestingly, VEPL alleges that the Ortel employees have been cuting the cable of its network for the past few months, in a bid to discourage it from spreading VEPL's network in Orissa. It is well known that Ortel has stopped airing ETV Oriya to its customers from January 2007. The ongoing war between these cable operators have badly affected the consumers in Bhubaneswar.

Ortel,s closing down shows their monopoly attitude , I think they will only lose by shutting down their service.
