Heavy Rain spoils Festive Mood in Bhubaneswar

The depression formed over Bay of Bengal resulted in heavy rain in the coast districts including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Today's Ganesh Festival has been badly affected by heavy rain and bad weather. People kept waiting for the rain god to show signs of relent so that they could roam around the city to have a glimpse of Ganesh Pandals. However, it did not happen.

Although normal life came to a halt in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, other parts of the state celebrated Ganesh Puja with much grandeur. Major cities like Rourkela, Balasore, Jeypore, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and others witnessed large gatherings on this auspicious occasion. Thousands of people thronged to the Puja Pandals to worship Lord Ganesha.

Despite heavy rain, people were seen visiting the Ganesha Puja Pandals in the evening. Nayapalli, Shaid Nagar, Bapuji Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Janpath, Old Town and Rasulgarh areas got crowded after 6 PM as thousands of people come out of home braving the persistent rain. Although the enthusiasm was there, the mood was spoiled by the weather god.
